Gold is the most popular market that we cover, and whenever we write about it, or produce a video featuring this precious metal, unsurprisingly, it also tends to generate the most passion of any market that we cover. With gold making new highs recently, I thought it would be timely to put together a video showing you where we are placing our short-term stops. The video is about 90 seconds long and shows you in a very visual way, what we're looking at in this market.
The video is available for viewing now and there is no charge or registration requirement.

Adam,
Given that all trade triangles now point to a strong uptrend for Gold, are you now considering going long again? I am thinking of going long again here via GLD with stops at the levels that had been recommended before.
Thanks,
Joseph
Joseph,
I wanted to send the link of the video that Adam just created last night. I think this will further explain Adam's position on gold.

George,
Not sure I understand what you are asking.
At MarketClub we have a real-time gold price and charts six days a week.
I hope this helps.

MWM.
Either one is good and will work well in the future. The key as you know is to use stops.
Thanks,
Adam
Hi Adam,
Thanks for another great video.
I have a question regarding the Stop Loss. I am assuming you used the level because it was the most recent low.
Do you recommend trailing the Stop Loss to a Higher Low (or Lower High for a short position) as the market moves up? For example, on 11 May 2020, would you have placed your Stop Loss at $1,184.25?
Hi Adam,
How did you determine where to place your gold stops, or did I miss that? Also, to clarify, you say to use D/W triangles for spot gold (is that just for buying bullion?) but to use W/M triangles for stocks or ETFs such as GLD. What would happen or what is the theory if you used D/W for GLD? And others like Silver or GE or the like? Are they just not volatile enough for the D/W triangles?
Thanks for all your help.
DaBear,
D/W triangles for spot gold and short term trading.
W/M triangles for stocks and ETFs.
The D/W would probably do well in GLD it would generate too many trades and commissions for my liking.
All the best,
Adam
Adam,
Just shows to go ya... how difficult it is to call the short term - even for the brightest and best - when politics and emotion takes over the markets.
Your previous long-term charting on Gold preceded the panic run to Gold from the Euro.
Thanks Adam. Appreciate your keeping us informed.
Thank you Adam.
The stop was certainly well placed. For spot gold, you use weekly for trend and daily for timing, right? But for a gold stock, it would still be monthly and weekly, right?
I am using the recommended default settings for the MACD (26, 12, 9), which yield a different configuration than yours on the 3-month gold chart (there is no cross yet and I am still above zero). Can you confirm that you are using customized settings and why?
Many thanks.

Adam: Correct.

Adam: My setting are 1, 26, 9. it is a little faster. I recommend playing with the settings to customize them for your own liking. The default settings are also very good and work well in almost all cases.
Thank you for your feedback and all the best.
Adam
