  1. Hi Adam, I have a question about 401k plans, the company i work for offers one through Prudential, they offer 17 different funds to invest in, 11 are private and 6 are public. I found that Prudential sells us the public funds are a much more higher price. Here are some examples: Prices are as of 4/9/07 OAKBX $26.96 PER SHARE PRUDENTIAL'S PRICE $31.07 P/S TWEIX $8.73 PER SAHRE PRUDENTIAL'S PRICE $11.78 P/S TEMFX $14.19 PER SHARE PRUDENTIAL'S PRICE $26.38 P/S TWUAX $27.25 PER SHARE PRUDENTIAL'S PRICE $34.17 P/S SSMVX $32.99 PER SHARE PRUDENTIAL'S PRICE $46.77 P/S WSCYX $14.53 PER SHARE PRUDENTIAL'S PRICE $17.07 P/S I called Prudential and talked to 7 different people including supervisors and managers, they all told me that the funds are not the same, I told them that I had reserached them an that the fund managers and percentage distribution where exactly the same as the info Prudential provides through their website. They said they will have someone call me and explain to me in detail where the difference was. I have contacted the people here at work but amazingly the guy in charge of our 401k plan has no idea about finances or he just doesn't want to help me. I have emailed one of the owners of company and his response was to contact HR or the person in charge of the plan. Do you know if this is a normal practice? I understand they have to make money too, but i am pretty sure the company pays them to mange our money unless the coampany is getting kick back, I don' t know what to think anymore, I have taken a loan for half of my funds, which is the most they allowed, and I'm going to invested myself through my online broker. I am sure I can do a better job than prudential with the Market Club software. Anyway, thank you for your time. Please email me if you need more info before you give me your opinion. Thank you. Ronald,

    Thanks for your feedback.

I am afraid I cannot comment on 401k's and the challenges you are having at work.  It is not in my level of expertise.

    Good luck in the future.

    Cheers
    Adam
