The Commodity Channel Index (CCI) is included in most technical analysis charting programs, but it has yet to enjoy the popularity of an RSI or an MACD. Some traders may be misled by the name into thinking the CCI applies only to commodities, but the larger problem with its acceptance as an analytic technical tool rests with the confusion about how to use and interpret the CCI.
In this session, Barbara shows you how to clear away this confusion and tap into the potential of this powerful momentum indicator. The CCI is as effective with stocks, indices, and mutual funds as it is with commodities. Barbara has had the benefit of interviewing the creator of the CCI, Donald Lambert, and will share some of the insights he provided about the purpose and application of the indicator. Although it was originally developed as a programming experiment linked to cycles, users found the CCI to be much more versatile. Barbara tells you how to unleash the power of the CCI by providing examples of several different trading techniques including how to use the CCI as a leading indicator.
Barbara Star, Ph.D., part-time trader, author, and university professor, provides one-on-one technical analysis training for both beginning and experienced traders. She also helps traders find the indicators best suited to their trading style, and will develop custom indicators when necessary. Barbara became interested in the financial markets about fifteen years ago. Tired of hand charting, she bought her first charting software soon after the 1987 crash, and has been fascinated by technical analysis and technical indicators ever since. Barbara’s articles and software reviews have appeared in Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities magazine since 1991. She wrote the three-volume EZ Indicator Series for Metastock users, and co-authored the trading manual Oscillator/Cycle Combinations Metastock Supplement with Walter Bressert in 1992. She is active in the Market Analysts of Southern California, a group formed by John Bollinger and his colleagues and open to anyone interested in technical analysis. She has served as both a board member and vice-president of the organization. She also leads a technical analysis user group.

Saturday Seminars are just a taste of the power of INO TV. The web’s only online video and audio library for trading education. So watch four videos in our free version of INO TV click here.
After listening to as much of Barbara Star's talk as I could hear (perhaps 2/3 - the crackling sound eventually got worse and wore me out), I am very interested in hearing or reading the entire talk. From your comments I assume the version you listen to is good quality. Perhaps you could put that file on the site so it could be downloaded instead of using the Adobe flash player. I'm interested enough to pay a small fee for either a transcript or a clean audio file.
The complaints about the size and orientation of the workbook are from folks who either haven't bothered to get, or don't understand how to use, recent pdf readers that allow rotation and sizing of images as mentioned in another comment. Some sites include an Adobe download button on their web page as a courtesy - up to you.
Jim,
Please check out our INO TV product. It has more seminars than you can shake a stick at. A few more from Barbara Star, and my personal favorite, Linda Raschke. You can learn more here: http://tv.ino.com/premium/join/.
If you have any questions feel free to call our staff.

The complaints on audio quality has been quite consistent. Instead of terminating the Saturday Seminars altogether, is it possible to just fix the audio problem? These seminars are good educational resources and I hate to see them discontinued. Thanks.
Lioucy,
I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the Saturday Seminars. I will discontinue until we have fixed all of the audio issues. Until the quality is 100%, I will replace Saturday's educational material with something else. I don't know how many Saturdays we will have to miss, but we will get everything taken care of and will continue this series at that time.
I truly appreciate the feedback and I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Pity about your comments regarding discontinuing the Saturday Seminars. This is the first one I have listened to, and have learned a lot. I am listening to Barbara Star and found the presentation good. The audio had a crackle, but got through it to listen to the message. As for the sideways PDF, use Acrobat Reader to rotate the image - its easy!
Please reconsider continuing the Saturday Seminar's.
What is the trick to multiple listening, as there seems to be a couple of audio files in the series, and I wish to review one of the sections?
Cheers,
Muray
Muray,
Try opening the multiple Saturday Seminars in various browser tabs. This will allow you to play various sections of the audios without going back and forth between lessons.
I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the seminars and I will only discontinue until the audios are completely fixed. It is difficult because on my end things should perfect... but then the quality is not uniform for all listeners.

Mdm,
Teach an old indicator new tricks? Not very easy to do when all your
charts and data run sideways on the pdf print-out!
Baffled,

Erick,
I'm sorry that the PDFs have have issues. We are remastering some of our audios... I will leave a note that the PDF for "Teach An Old Indicator New Tricks" should be remastered as well.

Do you ever incorporate anything other technicals? I am an avid reader of the Psychology of the Call blog, and I learned of you from their post. They have been more right on politics/policy/Obama since last year than most, esp the learned PhD's. We look forward to reviewing your calls from the last several weeks, is there any track record journal for us to view on your site?
Halina,
For the most part we let the market do the talking for us. If you would like to see a track record just type in track record with in the blog search box and you will see our quarterly results for the past 6 quarters. If that does not work type in quarterly results.
Every success,
Adam
the sound was really bad,, but liked the video
I have not been able to listen to ONE of your INO tv SATURDAY SEMINARS because the sound quality is so bad. This has been going on for months. I have called your company about this problem and have seen other comments about the same problem from other posters.
ADams videos are fine. Its only your guest speakers. To bad you have very useful information but its useless. How do you expect to sell any products. Their is no excuse for this.

Ray,
We have had 3 checks on the Saturday Seminar audio that we have scheduled to post. It seems as if the audio quality varies depending on speaker quality and audio settings. I would suggest altering your audio settings and increasing the bass level.

The Barbara Star audio had an extremely annoying background crackle that made listening to her a chore. It would help if someone checked out these materials before they are offered. It's possible that her talk would be profitable, which obviously I would welcome, but not in this defective version.
Dear Tom,
Due to the number of complaints regarding the audio quality and PDF quality of the seminars, I will be discontinuing the Saturday Seminars. Thank you for your feedback.

Dear Lindsay; I have just listened to the seminar. I found it well worth the time. I hope you will reconsider discontinuing the Seminars. The audio wasn't all that bad. Sincerely, Emarie Mislan
The PDF Workbook comes up with a "file corrupted" message when downloading. Please reload if possible.

Could you please do something about the playback quality. The playback that I listened to was very garbled. To the point of where it was almost intelligible.
