It's Not Over Until It's Over And It's Not Over Yet

This is a week that many investors would like to forget. It's the worst beginning of the year for equities since records have been kept.

Investors, some of whom are shell-shocked, are asking themselves, what should I do? Should I be a buyer here? Should I sell everything or should I just remain on the sidelines?

In today's video, I will be sharing with you some interesting views of the major indices that you may not have heard before. I will also be examining six big stocks that aren't so big anymore and what you should or should not be doing with them. I will be looking at gold which has done very well this week and predicting where I potentially think it can go.

Here's a list of the markets I will be covering today: Continue reading "It's Not Over Until It's Over And It's Not Over Yet"

Is Apple About To Break $100?

Hello MarketClub members everywhere! I've just returned from a short mini break over Christmas and New Year's to see the market crashing down this morning. This should come as no surprise to anyone as I have been talking about the negative chart implications that we were seeing in the major indices last year.

Indices

As far back as November 16th I warned that a weekly Trade Triangle had given a signal to move to the sidelines in the DOW index. That same Trade Triangle signal was followed a short while later in both the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ. The rocky start to the New Year should have come as no surprise to MarketClub members.

Gold

Concern over China along with a weak equity market here in the US was enough to push Gold (FOREX:XAUUSDO) to its best levels in some time and in doing so gave an important Trade Triangle buy signal. The Trade Triangle buy signal occurred on Tuesday, January 5th at $1,081.55. This is the first buy signal in gold in approximately three months and I believe it is one you should pay close attention to. My upside target for gold is the $1,130 to $1,140 area. The Big Rotation In 2016

Hello MarketClub members everywhere! As we start this trading week, I feel we are at a potential crossroads of some major changes in the markets. As you may remember, 2015 has been a no-go year for stocks and it would appear as though we have built a very large top in the equity markets for the time being.

Just as stocks have gone nowhere in 2015, gold appears to be building a base and ending its 4-year bear run. I am going to be watching that market very closely this week and in the near future. If gold moves over the $1,088.55 level this week, buy and hold it until the next weekly Trade Triangle signal.

So, what do I mean by the big rotation? I think we are going to see people move out of stocks in 2016 and transition more into assets like gold and secured short term interest bearing instruments. Continue reading "The Big Rotation In 2016"

Paris - A Seminal Moment In History

Make no mistake about it, the horrific terrorist acts that took place in France on Friday were indeed an act of war against the West. French President Francois Hollande should be congratulated for calling the attacks for what they were and not hiding behind some politically correct verbiage. Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of France and indeed to Europe.

My concern is, what is going to happen to the markets and how the events in Europe are going to translate across the Atlantic to our equity markets. The world continues to change but one thing is for sure, we're all linked financially for better or worse.

Let's take a look at the major indices individually and and see what's happening this afternoon. Continue reading "Paris - A Seminal Moment In History"

Retail Points To A Softer Economy

As I reported a while back, Macy's is in trouble and headed lower. Today U.S. retail sales were reported and rose less than expected in October. One of the big surprises was the automobile sector and the decline in the purchases of new cars.

The Commerce Department reported that retail sales edged up 0.1 percent last month after being unchanged in September. Economists and traders had been looking for a sales increasing 0.3 percent.

In today's report, I will be looking at Macy's Inc. (NYSE:M), J.C. Penney Company Inc. (NYSE:JCP), Bebe Stores Inc. (NASDAQ:BEBE) and Nordstrom Inc. (NYSE:JWN). In addition to the soft retail sector, I will also be looking at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) which continues to erode and could be very close to a turning point.
