The S&P 500 (SPY)

The Fed again interjected itself into the markets, and the downside follow through I was forecasting was squelched by the end of trading on Monday, then we flew back up to whipsaw out all the stops set above the highs! Since then, we sit and spin.

I still don't believe the breakout is sustainable and that we will turn lower. However, it may take a week or two to burn off the speed of the rally back up to the highs.

I'm not going to change any of my open trades, and this whipsaw reinforces my choice to take short exposure in the last forecast in individual stocks vs. the market index! Continue reading "Weekly Stock Market Forecast" →

The S&P 500 (SPY)

In last week’s forecast, I said... ”if we turn then things should begin to accelerate to the downside.”

Well, this week, the breakout attempt came and was rejected, so for the first time in what feels like forever, I have the confidence and clarity to call a significant market top and get aggressive this week!

The S&P 500 (SPY)

The S&P pump started again in earnest on Tuesday and basically hasn't done anything since. If we turn lower on Monday, it would solidify the lower high I have been forecasting. We are so close to the highs that I would suspect there will be some attempt at a breakout, even if it is short-lived.

So next week will be a pivotal one; if we turn, then things should begin to accelerate to the downside. If we break out, then I'm stuck back into a holding pattern as I wait for the energy to dissipate. Continue reading "Weekly Stock Market Forecast" →

The S&P 500 (SPY)

All the waiting and watching has paid off nicely as the S&P has topped and started to trend lower in earnest. This "break" will freak some folks out, but I still believe my forecast will prove true that this selling will catch a bid and reverse the market for a short period of time. Another quiet week, weirdly so... I'm starting to wonder if this inaction is the behavioral proof that the only game in town these days is Fed-injected liquidity. Still stalking the short side as all my measurements are very scary and extreme to the bear side... Yet price (which is the ONLY thing that matters) doesn't react.
