{"id":54123,"date":"2021-02-19T13:55:16","date_gmt":"2021-02-19T18:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ino.com\/blog\/?p=54123"},"modified":"2021-02-19T13:55:16","modified_gmt":"2021-02-19T18:55:16","slug":"yellen-calls-for-more-stimulus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwtest.ino.com\/blog\/2021\/02\/yellen-calls-for-more-stimulus\/","title":{"rendered":"Yellen Calls For More Stimulus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The stock market was on the move higher in early trading Friday after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said a large Covid-19 relief package is needed for a full recovery in the U.S. However, it has slipped to a mixed-mode as it headed into afternoon trading to close out the week with the DOW gaining roughly +48%, the S&P 500 and NASDAQ fighting to stay in positive territory for the day. <\/p>\n<div align=\"center\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;margin-top: 10px;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lphvFmdplOI\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Yellen told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/02\/18\/treasury-secretary-janet-yellen-makes-push-for-a-big-stimulus-sees-bigger-risk-to-not-doing-enough.html\">CNBC Thursday after the bell<\/a> that more stimulus is necessary even as some economic data suggested a rebound is already underway. She added a $1.9 trillion stimulus deal could help the U.S. get back to full employment in a year.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe think it\u2019s very important to have a big package [that] addresses the pain this has caused \u2013 15 million Americans behind on their rent, 24 million adults and 12 million children who don\u2019t have enough to eat, small businesses failing,\u201d Yellen told CNBC\u2019s Sara Eisen during a \u201cClosing Bell\u201d interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the price of doing too little is much higher than the price of doing something big.
