Its organic sales grew 0.8% year-over-year, marking the first positive growth in the past five quarters. Its adjusted operating income margin was 21.9%, up four percentage points year-over-year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company posted adjusted earnings per share of $2.39, compared to the consensus estimate of $2.11, and up 21% year-over-year. During the quarter, 3M\u2019s adjusted free cash flow was $0.8 billion. Moreover, the company returned $835 million to shareholders via dividends.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, as of March 31, 2024, the materials company\u2019s cash and cash equivalents stood at $10.91 billion, compared to $5.93 billion as of December 31, 2023. The company\u2019s total current assets were $21.61 billion versus $16.38 billion as of December 31, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting in the second quarter of 2024, Solventum\u2019s historical earnings results will be reported within 3M\u2019s financial statements as discontinued operations.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the full-year 2024 outlook, the company projects adjusted organic sales growth to be flat-2%. Also, its adjusted earnings per share is expected to be between $6.80 to $7.30.<\/span><\/p>\n

This marks another significant development for 3M as it remains committed to its objectives. The final approval of this settlement and the company\u2019s ongoing progress to cease all PFAS manufacturing by the end of 2025 will further its efforts to minimize risk and uncertainty in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n
