During the second quarter, the company\u2019s shipments of 3-nanometer made up 15% of total wafer revenue, 5-nanometer accounted for 35%, and 7-nanometer constituted 17%. Advanced technologies, defined as 7-nanometer and more advanced technologies, accounted for 67% of total wafer revenue.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company\u2019s gross profit was $11.07 billion, up 37.6% from the previous year\u2019s quarter. TSMC\u2019s non-GAAP income from operations rose 41.9% year-over-year to $8.86 billion. Its net income and earnings per ADR came in at $7.66 billion and $1.48, increases of 36.3% year-over-year, respectively. Its earnings per ADR compared to the consensus estimate of $1.42.<\/span><\/p>\n

As of June 30, 2024, TSMC\u2019s cash and cash equivalents were $55.38 billion, and its total assets amounted to $184.13 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur business in the second quarter was supported by strong demand for our industry-leading 3nm and 5nm technologies, partially offset by continued smartphone seasonality,\u201d<\/span> said<\/span><\/a> Wendell Huang, Chief Financial Officer of TSMC. \u201cMoving into third quarter 2024, we expect our business to be supported by strong smartphone and AI-related demand for our leading-edge process technologies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
