Stocks Rise After Soft Opening

Hello traders everywhere. After a rough week where all three indexes ended lower the Monday open seemed to continue that trend with the indexes opening lower on the day. However, late morning brought about a turnaround, and the stock market is solidly in positive territory for the day. The reason for the turnaround? Speculation by traders that President Donald Trump's tough tariff talk won't translate into the most severe protectionist policies as many had feared.

Trump appears to be opening the door for negotiations on tariffs. In a series of tweets Monday morning, Trump said: "Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum will only come off if new & fair NAFTA agreement is signed," adding that "Mexico must do much more on stopping drugs from pouring into the U.S. They have not done what needs to be done."

Also, House Speaker Paul Ryan said he was "extremely worried" about Trump's trade plan. Congressional leaders will not rule out potential action if Trump decides to move forward with his tariff plan.

  1. I have a newspaper article from the 1970's interest at 9%. Same interest rate rise jargon. Interest rates go up because economies go up making profit go up and so the stock market, through the 70's overall.

  2. I think, it is just smaller bounce back, more pain ahead, and Dow will soon come down sharply, with a long lasting as well continues bear trend. around 23, 400, there will be a major support, and there after free fall will be taken place if this support zone find broken.

    1. What are your supporting reasons why dow will sharply drop? What are you thinking for a timeframe for a drop? in March or more towards April?

      1. This may happened due to changes in interest rate, however, I strongly believe that market always do what it wants, and afterwards, supporting reason therefore is find out by players, media, intermediaries etc.etc. I am forecasting just on the basis of technical s only, sharp fall is also predicted on the basis of same.
I am not sure about time frame, but downward process may be finish near about June -July
