And The Winners Are...

Hello MarketClub members everywhere, there are two big winners today. The first winner has to be Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), they announced earnings last night and blew away all the estimates by a wide margin. Amazon announced its first real profit in 20 years. In after-hours trading, the stock was up over 11% which made Jeff Bezos, who founded Amazon a little over 20 years ago, the third wealthiest man in America right behind Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. I congratulate both Amazon and Jeff Bezos for sticking to their guns and providing an amazing, first-class service.

If you watched yesterday's video, MarketClub's Trade Triangles nailed Amazon's up move and I predicted that the stock would trade at $600 or higher. You can watch yesterday's video right here. For those of you who watched the video and took action, you just made a quick 10% on your money in less than 24 hours.

The second winner is Continue reading "And The Winners Are..."

Amazon Knows Exactly What It's Doing

When Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) back on July 5, 1994 to sell books online, he had a much bigger goal in mind that no one else could see.

Mr. Bezos named his fledgling e-commerce company Amazon after the river and for good reason.

The Amazon River is the largest river in the world and it dwarfs the water output of the next seven largest rivers combined! That was Jeff Bezos's ambition... to dwarf every other company in the world and so far he is succeeding.

I imagine that Sam Walton, the genius who created Walmart, was an inspirational role model for Mr. Bezos. Yesterday, Amazon surpassed Walmart in sales - no small feat given the fact that Walmart has been around since Sam Walton founded this company in 1962, over half a century ago! Like Sam Walton, Jeff Bezos took a similar approach to retailing - to make products readily available at better prices than anybody else. Somewhere down the line, I would not be surprised to see Amazon open up brick and mortar stores. Continue reading "Amazon Knows Exactly What It's Doing"

Shocking News From Amazon And Google

After the bell yesterday, Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced, to the surprise of many, that they made a profit. That, of course, is good news if you were long their stock. The Trade Triangle technology got this one wrong, but also got it right as well, let me explain.

Prior to Amazon's earnings announcement, the Trade Triangles were on the sidelines having received a signal to cover any short positions on January 23rd at $314.75. While the Trade Triangles missed the big 10% up-move in after-hours trading yesterday, it certainly did not cause any harm either. Not getting caught wrong-footed in the market is an important element to successful investing. Or to use Warren Buffett's number one investment rule: #1. Do not lose money. His second investment rule is: #2 Do not forget rule number one.

Jeff Bezos, the chief honcho at Amazon and its driving force, decided to hold back on some some of his expansion spending and give investors something to smile about while placating the street, which was beginning to think that Amazon would never make money. Alibaba VS. Amazon - Which One You Should Buy

Hello traders and MarketClub members everywhere! Today, I will be looking at Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), who just announced their earnings and future growth prospects and Alibaba (NYSE:BABA), who just made new highs yesterday, since going public in its recent IPO offering. I will also be delving into Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and analyzing if the love affair is over.

Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA)
Alibaba is an amazing company, started by Jack Ma not that long ago. Its recent IPO on the NYSE raised a record amount of funds for this company and made Jack Ma an overnight billionaire. So what does Alibaba actually do? This company acts and provides a platform to merchants to sell to their half a billion users that frequent their website. Alibaba's master plan is to be the biggest commerce website in the world. That leads me to another website that has similar plans.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)
Amazon, who is undoubtedly the king of online commerce here in the United States, continues to grow, but continues to lose money. Amazon continues to pour money into the development of several other businesses, including cloud and server hosting for companies. Amazon's greatest asset, in my opinion, is the amount of information they have on everyone who has ever purchased goods and services from their website. This is an invaluable resource for marketing, not just for Amazon, but for any company they choose to work with. Continue reading "Alibaba VS. Amazon - Which One You Should Buy"

Three Reasons You Should Buy Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)

Today I'll be looking at Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN). At this point in time, the name Amazon is synonymous with online shopping, but Amazon does quite a bit more than just that. Amazon also runs a huge cloud infrastructure hosting service that has revenues in the billions of dollars. Amazon is constantly rolling out new services that are all designed to help sell more products. They are even coming out with a payment service for merchants that can be used on a smart phone.

Jeff Bezos, the genius behind Amazon, recently purchased the Washington Post. I'm not sure that this paper is going to make Jeff any money, but it is going to win him a lot of friends in Washington DC. Why would Bezos care about a newspaper? I don't think he cares about the newspaper itself, but rather the power the Washington Post has with politicians. What he cares about most is not having regulators come in and create problems by making more regulations than are necessary.

All that aside, here are three good reasons why I believe Amazon is going to have a very good fourth quarter.

1. Technically the stock looks good after pulling back from recent highs it made in July around the $360 area. The stock found support right around $280 and an important Fibonacci retracement level at $310.

2. Yesterday, Monday the 18th, the stock of Amazon flashed a weekly Trade Triangle. This action reaffirmed that the longer-term trend has resumed and should now be moving higher.

3. The stock is now in very strong hands with all the Trade Triangles green, indicating a strong upward trend.

CHART LEGEND
1. Monthly red Trade Triangle indicates the upward trend had reversed.
2. All Trade Triangles are now green indicating a strong upward trend.
3. Green weekly Trade Triangle indicates to cover any short positions.
4. Monthly Trade Triangle turns green.
5. A red weekly Trade Triangle indicates exit long positions.
6. New weekly green Trade Triangle kicks in at $335.
7. The RSI indicator is trading above the 50 line indicating a strong trend.
8. The MACD indicator is showing the trend is now positive.

I still believe that Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is a powerhouse to be reckoned with. Amazon's only real challenge will be regulations coming in to squash what is a shining success in entrepreneurial-ism and capitalism.

Today, I'm seeing some profit taking coming into the market and I believe that this presents an opportunity to pick up the stock of Amazon. Currently Amazon is trading just below our original Trade Triangle buy ($335) signal.
