Gold Futures

Gold Futures--- Gold futures are trading above their 20 and 100 day moving average basically settling unchanged for the trading week going out this Friday afternoon in New York down about $8 at 1,323 after prices hit 1,345 in Wednesday’s trade as the trend still continues to the upside. I think this is just a possible pause as prices have had a heckuva rally in the last 2 months and I have been recommending a long position in gold for quite some time while placing my stop below the 10 day low which currently stands around 1,315 which is only $8 away so that stop is very tight with a high probability of getting clipped at that price on Monday, however Continue reading "Weekly Futures Recap With Mike Seery"

Gold Futures

Gold futures in the April contract rallied about $25 this week to close right near session highs this Friday afternoon in New York up $10 an ounce at 1,326 an ounce developing outstanding chart structure as I am still recommending long positions in gold as I think higher prices are ahead so place your stop at the 10 day low of about 1,262 an ounce which is still quite a distance away but this chart looks very solid to me & that stop will be raised next week just like it will in silver. It’s amazing what a couple of months can do as in 2013 everybody was bearish gold including myself and now in 2014 the tide turned to the upside. Gold Futures

Gold futures in the April contract finished higher by another $20 an ounce at 1,320 climbing higher for the 7th consecutive trading session hitting 3 month highs and this market looks terrific to the upside and I’m still recommending long positions as I think prices will retest the 1,360 level as the commodity markets have caught fire to the upside. The U.S dollar continues to decline against the foreign currencies and that is starting to push gold and many other commodities higher as gold is now trading above its 20 and 100 day moving average showing you that the trend is higher with outstanding chart structure so continue to play this with either a long futures contract or look at some June bull call option spreads as I think there’s a chance prices could head up to 1,400 come springtime especially if the U.S dollar makes contract lows. Gold Futures

Gold futures in the April contract are trading above their 20 day but below their 100 day moving average which is pretty close at 1,275 going out this Friday afternoon in New York at 1,267 up about $10 after closing last Friday at 1,240 having one of its best trading weeks in quite some time. The next major resistance in gold is at 1,280 and if that level is broken I believe a bull market is underway as the gold market looks like it's finally bottomed entering new 2 month highs as the trend line has now been broken as prices are starting to climb higher. I have not been particularly bullish gold for quite some time but things have changed and this is the most bullish I've been as I love the chart pattern on the daily chart and I think prices have bottomed so if you're looking to take a shot to the upside my suggestion would be to buy a mini contract at today's price placing a stop below the contract low of 1,180 risking around $$2,600 as today's monthly unemployment number was very disappointing once again sending investors into treasury bonds and gold and I do believe gold prices are headed higher. Gold Futures

Gold futures finished the week at 1,240 still continuing their choppy trade as investors sold off the precious metal later in the week despite the fact that the S&P 500 is having huge volatility which generally spooks investors into buying gold but the precious metal closed very poorly in my opinion. I have a hard time believing that gold is going to start to rally anytime soon as it might be stuck in the mud and could trade choppy for quite some time. The U.S dollar hit a 7 week high today which is bearish gold prices as the printing press here in the United States is starting to stop which is creating a higher U.S dollar versus the foreign currencies and that is bearish commodity prices in general.
