Apple's Killer New Strategy And Why Everyone Missed It

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, President of INO.com and Co-creator of MarketClub, with your mid-day market update for Thursday, the 24th of October.

Earlier this week, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) unveiled its new lineup of iPads and Macs that are going to push it into the fourth quarter. One key in the presentation that most observers might have missed while focusing on the products, was the fact that Apple intends to include and provide free software like Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand. These software programs are first class and represent some of the company's crown jewels. It's Apple's new strategy to bring more and more new users into Apple's ecosystem. Once in, it is hard to get out and Apple has you for life.

This strategy reminds me of King Gillette, of Gillette shaving and razors. King Gillette's strategy was simple, give away the razor and I will sell you the high-profit razor blades. In Apple's case, the software is the razor, the iPad, iPhone, the Mac and all of the other Apple hardware pieces are the razor blades. Not a bad strategy for Apple in the tablet wars. Showtime For Apple

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, President of INO.com and Co-creator of MarketClub, with your mid-day market update for Tuesday, the 22nd of October.

Today at 10am PT/1pm ET, it's showtime for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. In previous years, there has been an air of mystery about what surprises Apple has for the market. This year however, most of the news has been spilled and the world will be looking for new iPads with retina displays, improvements in the Mac line and possibly more information on Maverick, Apple's new operating system for the desktop and laptop world.

As always, Apple teases us with a slogan, and this year is no different as the slogan that's draped around the Yerba Buena Center reads, "We Still Have a Lot to Cover." What exactly that means remains to be seen. That air of the next big thing is one of the reasons Apple events are so intriguing to the world.

In addition to analyzing Apple, I will also be looking at the major indices, crude oil, gold, and the US dollar.

I always appreciate your comments and feedback, so please feel free to leave them on this blog, along with any questions you might have for us.

Is Google losing its mojo?

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, President of INO.com and Co-creator of MarketClub, with your mid-day market update for Wednesday, the 16th of October.

Tomorrow, Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) announces its long awaited earnings and I thought I'd take a look at this stock today before tomorrow's big announcement.

There are some interesting developments in Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) that have largely gone unreported. I will be using our Trade Triangle technology to point out these discrepancies to our viewers.

Of course, the Democrats and Republicans clawing at each other as they try to beat the deadline on the 17th is the big unknown for the market. My best guess is that there will be a deal that no one likes and the politicians will agree to "kick the can down the road" until next year.

Please feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts on the markets or if you dare, Washington politicians.

Are we headed for a financial Armageddon? I don't think so

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, President of INO.com and Co-creator of MarketClub, with your mid-day market update for Monday, the 14th of October.

It's day 14 of the government shutdown and it's certainly getting down to crunch time where someone is going to have to blink. I think both parties know how angry the populace is with their childish behavior. In my opinion, the National Park Service should be fired for what they did with the open air monuments.

Last week's market didn't close badly with the expectation that we would have a resolution in place this past weekend. That was not to be case and the major indices are lower this morning.

UPDATE: Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) flashes a major buy signal. Continue reading "Are we headed for a financial Armageddon? I don't think so"

Is The Market Correction Over?

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, President of INO.com and Co-creator of MarketClub, with your mid-day market update for Thursday, the 10th of October.

Yes, I believe that the current correction has come to an end with yesterday's market action. Markets are heavily oversold at this point and I expect to see a relief rally starting today.

Several of our MarketClub members stated that they expect to see some sort of agreement out of Washington in the next few days. I happen to agree with their thoughts and if that happens, it could instantly repair the downside pressure on the markets.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is looking more and more interesting, particularly if it closes today over the $491.10 level. Should this happen, it will have created a mini base in which to propel Apple to my "line-in-the-sand" level at $497. Apple could go into overdrive if this level is broken on the upside any time this week. Continue reading "Is The Market Correction Over?"
