Today's Video Newsletter: Slap on an Apple, and plug in a Tesla

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, co-founder of MarketClub with your mid-day market update for Thursday, the 21st of February.

In addition to the markets we normally report on, we will also be looking at the following markets using our Trade Triangle technology.

SLAP ON AN APPLE
First filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office in August 2011 and just discovered today by Allappnews.com, is Apple's patent for a “bi-stable spring with flexible display.” In other words, this could be the long-rumored iWatch. Here is what the patent states: With touch screen user input, a user can accomplish a number of different tasks including adjusting the order of a current playlist, and reviewing a list of recent phone calls. A response to a current text message can even be managed given a simple virtual keyboard configuration across the face of the flexible display. We will be looking at Apple (AAPL) today with our Trade Triangle technology to see if this new patent discovery moved the needle or if it makes sense technically to buy, sell, or take a rain-check on this stock. Forget Apple, This Rival Is a Much Better Bargain

When assessing any stock, you need to weigh the risk against reward. Yet for Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) shareholders, it's a challenging task. To be sure, it's really hard to see how much risk there is when Apple's net cash balance stands at $137 billion -- and is on its way to $200 billion in a few years. Management has started dropping hints that shareholder-friendly moves are coming, which usually means stock buybacks or big dividend boosts.

Still, even as Apple carries relatively minor risk, it's not clear what kind of upside investors should expect either. As I noted a couple days ago, competition is gaining on Apple, which could lead to market share erosion and falling margins as price cuts ensue. Friday Poll: Would you buy Apple stock?

You know we love Apple products here at MarketClub, but has the company lost its luster? I was shocked to see that Exxon has surpassed Apple as the world's most valuable company, after the tech company's stock hit a new 52-week low.

Apple's stock has been falling since it reported earnings on Wednesday. It hit a new 52-week low of $437.51 today, well off the recent all-time high of $703.99.

So, that begs the question....

Would you buy Apple stock now?

Flash Charts on an iPad... You're kidding me

I love my iPhone and my new iPad, but one of my big frustrations with both Apple devices was not being able to look at our very own Trade Triangles and MarketClub charts.

Now for the good news! That problem has been solved for me with two apps that all work with MarketClub.

Puffin Web Browser:
It is a cute name, it's free or for a small charge, and easily downloadable from the App Store. The Puffin app works just like the Safari browser that is already installed on your iPad and iPhone, but it displays Flash content. Its creators, CloudMosa Inc., claim it "is a wicked fast web browser and renders the full versions of web pages quickly and reliably. It also supports Flash with excellent performance on iPads and iPhones."

Personally, I stick with Safari when surfing the web until I see something that is interesting and requires Flash, then I switch to one of the two browsers we are reviewing here today.

Photon Flash Player Browser for iPad:
According to USA Today, who gives this browser five stars, "Photon browser is a powerful and versatile Safari alternative that excels in its flash support..." This browser can be used instead of Safari to look at MarketClub charts. Created by Appsverse Inc., the app is available for free or a small charge.

Every success in using MarketClub with your iPad,

Adam Hewison
