Today's Video Update: Z10, Tiffany, Gold and the Weekend Worry, Cyprus

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, co-founder of MarketClub with your mid-day market update for Friday, the 22nd of March.

Z10 - Does BlackBerry Have The Magic To Come Back?
Today's the day that BlackBerry begins to market its Z10 smartphone in the US. It's interesting that BlackBerry chose today, as it is the 50th anniversary of the Beatles and the first James Bond movie. Both the Beatles and the Bond franchises have performed extremely well over the years. The question now is can Blackberry resurrect itself as a leading contender in the smartphone market? The US accounts for 20% of BlackBerry sales and this number either has to stay or grow from here. The key to BlackBerry stock is holding onto and growing its customer base. I think that's going to be an awfully hard challenge given the Android and Apple's iOS stranglehold on the US markets. Today we will be looking at the stock of BlackBerry to see just how well our Trade Triangle technology did in capturing the moves so far in this once shining star. Today's Video Update: Cyprus, the mouse that roared

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, co-founder of MarketClub with your mid-day market update for Wednesday, the 20th of March.

Cyprus, The Mouse That Roared
On Monday, I appeared on CNBC Asia's "Cash Flow" program and discussed Cyprus as being the "mouse that roared." Cyprus geographically is a very small country and represents only .5% of GDP for the EU. However, the ramifications and the notoriety of what this small island country is/was trying to do by seizing savers bank accounts is a psychological bombshell that was heard around the world, especially in Europe. That leads us to Russia, which has a great deal of its money on deposit in Cyprus. It is also rumored that some of the largest deposited funds belong to the Russian mafia. If that is the case, we would not expect to see the proposed disastrous idea of stealing savings from individuals and companies get passed. Today's Video Newsletter: Facebook and NetFlix form an alliance to learn more about you

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, co-founder of MarketClub with your mid-day market update for Wednesday, the 13th of March.

THE FACEBOOK - NETFLIX ALLIANCE
Today Netflix and Facebook announced a sharing of data. You can view this in two ways, either it's very destructive, "these folks are learning way too much about my habits," or you can look upon it as a business opportunity. For Netflix, I believe it is more of a plus than it is for Facebook. The new add-on service tells you about what movies your friends are watching and in-turn, it tells your friends what movies you are watching. This could be a very positive move for Netflix. We have been bullish on Netflix for quite some time (12/04/12 @ $89.45) and this is yet another strong signal that Netflix can move higher and over the $200 mark. At the present time, we have upside target zones of $200, $220 for this stock. Continue reading "Today's Video Newsletter: Facebook and NetFlix form an alliance to learn more about you"

Fibonacci Tips For E-mini Futures Trading - Part Two

FIB TIPS AND OTHER HEAD TRIPS

As traders, we are quick to put on mental shackles. Bind ourselves to a way of thinking that lives somewhere between no-sense and nonsense. No trader makes it through unscathed. We all get a little taste of the snake oil in one form or another. However, if you are going to succeed in building your trading business, you must learn how to trade. Interestingly enough, the most powerful tools available in today’s hi-tech trading arena, in my opinion, aren’t the new ones; it’s the tools that are steeped in a rich history, the ancient of days.

  • Candlestick Signals - 400 years old
  • Fibonacci Sequence - Created “In the beginning” discovered by man recently in 1202

In our previous article, Fibonacci Tips For E-mini Futures Trading, we covered the basics of Fibonacci Retracements in the context of an uptrend. In this article, we will use the same concept and approach, but we will simply apply them in the context of a down trend. This is a large part of why Day trading E-mini Futures is so attractive. Unlike investing in a company where you often wait weeks, months, or even years for the stock to appreciate, E-mini Futures’ profit opportunities are as readily available in a downtrend as they are in an uptrend. True Fibs for E-mini Futures Trading

Introduced by Burt Schlichter

We addressed the topic of Fibs and Fibonacci in a previous article, “Fibonacci Made Simple.” If you are not familiar with the man or the mathematics, I do encourage casual research as Fibs can be successfully used for confirmation and/or projection when properly applied. A word of caution, Fibonacci Retracements and Extensions should always be used in conjunction with other indicators or methodologies. As a standalone tool, its subjective nature simply leaves too many questions unanswered.

There is no question of the elegance and even precision with which these levels can be viewed after the fact. The most common levels are observed by a great number of traders and on larger time frames. It is easy to see the hive mind at work which begs the philosophical question of “predictive tool or self-fulfilling prophecy?” Either way, as long as we are armed with the caveats previously stated and able to potentially enhance our trading performance through its use, let’s go Fibbing.
