Coffee Futures

Coffee futures in New York hit another contract high last Wednesday at 209.75 before profit taking ensued closing around 198 in the May contract still continuing its bullish momentum closing higher by about 200 points for the trading week. The chart structure in coffee has finally improved to a point where you can actually put a realistic stop loss as the new 10 day low is at 181.50 and if your still long this market that is where I’m recommending to place your stop loss which is still about 20 points away equaling around $7,500 per contract. Coffee Futures

Coffee Futures in the May contract are trading above their 20 day moving average and are trading 8000 points higher than their 100 day moving average that’s how far prices have come in the last 6 weeks as the drought in central Brazil continues its stranglehold on coffee growing regions pushing prices sharply higher currently trading at 198 in the May contract and I’ve been recommending a long position in coffee and if you’re still in this market I would place my stop below the 10 day low which is currently 170 as the chart structure is starting to improve & if you been reading my previous blogs I received a very interesting email last week from one of the largest coffee producers in Brazil Continue reading "Weekly Futures Recap With Mike Seery"

Gold Futures

Gold futures rallied sharply off of a disappointing unemployment jobs number coming out this morning stating that we had added 75,000 jobs as we are expecting at around 200,000 sending gold up $16 closing right at session highs at 1,245 an ounce with a possible bottom at 1,180 being formed as traders rushed back into the precious metal thinking that the economy is doing much worse than expected. Gold is still in a mixed trend trading above its 20 day moving average but below the 100 day moving average settling last Friday at 1,239 going out up about $5 for the week and it will be very interesting to see what the next jobs report states if it’s another 75,000 you could be almost be assured that the Federal Reserve will continue its quantitative easing and might even add to it so if you’re bullish gold you’re hoping for another poor unemployment number next month. Gold Futures

Gold futures are right near 3 year lows going out this Friday afternoon at 1,200 an ounce after falling $40 in yesterday’s trade due to the fact that the Federal Reserve announced the beginning of its tapering program of bond purchases which is construed as negative towards goal prices as the money flow continues in the S&P 500 and out of the precious metals as investors see no reason to be long the gold market at this time. Gold futures have dropped Continue reading "Weekly Futures Recap With Mike Seery"

Cotton Futures-- Cotton futures for the December contract was down sharply this week settling at 83.11 last Friday down over 375 points this week in New York continuing its bearish momentum after breaking down at 82 last week currently trading at 79.30 basically unchanged this Friday afternoon. Prices are still trading below their 20 and 100 day moving average hitting a 9 month low & I’m still recommending a short position placing your stop above the 10 day high which at the time was about a $1200 risk but at today’s current price is around $2,500 remembering cotton is a very large contract. In my opinion it looks that cotton prices will retest the 78 level possibly even heading lower as there is weakening demand & excellent crops around the world pushing up supplies at this time despite the fact that the U.S dollar hit a 1 1/2 year low having very little effect on cotton prices at this time. The USDA will come out with crop estimates next week and it’s been quite some time for fresh news to appear due to the government shutdown and that should guide short-term price direction. TREND: LOWER –CHART STRUCTURE: EXCELLENT Continue reading "Weekly Futures Recap w/Mike Seery"
